Last year's Fall Fun Fest, held on a Sunday in late September, drew nearly 2,000 people, according to Sands Point Preserve Conservancy executive director Jeremiah Bosgang. On a single afternoon, attendance at one event on Preserve grounds approached the size of the entire village.
The Fest is open to residents and non-residents, with admission by car. Visitors come from the wider Port Washington peninsula and beyond, making it a regional event as well as part of Sands Point's fall calendar.
Bosgang has been direct about what the day is and isn't. "It's not a fundraiser, but a celebration of the community," he said of the 2025 Fest, describing it as an easy, affordable way for a family to spend an afternoon together. The event itself has an actual local pedigree. It grew out of "Village Day," a tradition the Preserve first ran back in 2008, years before the Fall Fun Fest name existed.
What's Actually on the Fall Calendar
The Preserve shifts into its fall hours on September 9, staying open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., through November 1, with the same 9-to-6 window held on Columbus Day. Beyond the seasonal gate hours, a handful of dated programs are already confirmed for this fall.

A couple of the specifics above haven't posted for 2026 as of this writing, including the exact Fall Fun Fest date and the precise Sunday for the fall concert. The pattern from the past two years is consistent enough to plan around anyway. Expect the Fest on a Sunday in the back half of September and the Four Seasons finale on a Sunday in early-to-mid November.
The Ticket Rule That Catches People Off Guard
If a trip to Falaise is on your fall list, know the mechanics before you go. Tickets are sold same-day only, in person, at Castle Gould's Welcome Center, which opens at 11 a.m. Wednesday through Sunday. There's no advance sale. Tours run in small groups and tend to sell out by early afternoon on busy weekends, which is why residents who've shown up at 2 p.m. expecting an open slot have learned to arrive closer to opening instead. The same day-of-only rule applies to interior tours of Hempstead House.
It's a small operational detail, but it shapes how locals actually use the property. Falaise isn't a stop you make on a whim between errands. You treat it the way you'd treat a popular restaurant with no reservations: you build the morning around getting there early, or you don't get in at all.
